What can Tanztage visitors expect from your project?
?Suites with Rosalind Goldberg? is built on scores from 26 artists, the French suites of Bach and my habits. It is a solo evening where I have been working 2,5 days with each score together with a music part. The outcome is unknown, its a game with confrontations, habits and choices as parameters. The idea to work in this structure comes from an interest in getting an understanding for creating and creativity related to yourself and your habits. How can methods and structures affect your way of creating? Are these tools good for tricking yourself to new tracks, thoughts, movement and composition?
What are you questioning with your current work?
Out from the created structure and method for ?Suites with Rosalind Goldberg? my main questions are: Where can such a work lead me in the field of contemporary dance? In which way does the score affect the choreography and my way of thinking choreography? And last but not least: Are there methods that can favour my creativity?
What is dance for you especially in relation to the contemporary tendencies you see on different stages?
Movement is for me something really actual as well as a poetic concept. So far the never ending story of ways to play with movement keeps on surprising me. Movement that becomes a dance and then maybe choreography. The trends or the tendencies are what I see, a search in ways to process dance, finding new bases for aesthetics in stage art to grow, that are established in the knowledge of today together with a physical research of the body. I find all of it highly interesting.
What does it mean for you to produce art work nowadays?
It´s hard for me to relate to anything else then today regarding working with art in the contemporary field, but when I look at what?s happening in the scene, the number of productions and Do it yourself-projects that are presented together with the energy that the field is filled of, I?m happy to be part of this development. The form of expression and reflection that is possible through contemporary dance, related to the context we are in, has for me the ultimate working conditions. The scene is admissible and takes many steps forward in how to think choreography that creates a lot of questions and inspiration.
